Pledge Class: Alpha Iota

Graduation Date: Spring 2017

Major:
Currently Nutrition with a concentration in applied nutrition, but I am currently in the process of switching my major to Business Administration with a tentative concentration in Marketing.  After I started working in the Orfalea and ASI Children Center as Food Service Assistant and trained at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center as a Diet Aide, I realized my true passion is to work with people in a team setting where I can be creative and innovative.

What do you hope to do when you graduate from Cal Poly?
When I graduate from Cal Poly, I want to move to the Bay Area (specifically San Francisco) and start working. I also want to take some time off to travel and explore the world and spend time with loved ones.

What did you end up doing last summer?
Last summer, I went back home to work at my old job at Mikuni Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar, training new hires.  I spent a lot time with family, especially my grandpa, who is in a senior home now and then traveled to Missouri for a week with my grandma to visit my aunt and her newborn baby.

What is a long term goal that you hope to eventually accomplish one day?
One long term goal I hope to eventually accomplish is to get back into designing and start my own clothing company. In high school, I designed two junior class sweatshirts, took preorders, and set my prices at an affordable rate that would provide me minimal profit. I created and sold over 150 sweaters in one month.

How has AKPsi shaped your career?
Through AKPsi, I have grown to become a better public speaker and project leader. AKPsi has influenced me to become business-minded and to pursue a career in the field of business.

What is your favorite memory of AKPsi?
My favorite memory of AKPsi is the brotherhood social during my pledging process. I pledged my fall quarter of freshmen year of college and after the first, intense week of pledging, I was unsure that this fraternity was right for me because I was a nutrition major. But the brotherhood social made me realize that I wanted to join AKPsi for the brotherhood. The social took me away from the stress of pledging and showed me that the actives were more than just business professionals... they were college students like me. We played games on the beach, made s'mores, built a human pyramid, and had a blast. I will never forget the day I became passionate about AKPsi.
