Pledge Class: Alpha Theta

Year of Graduation: June 2017

Major: Software Engineering

What do you hope to do when you graduate from Cal Poly?
Even though I'm a third year, I still don't really know what lies ahead for the future, but that's okay with me. I know I want to work within the software engineering field, and while I'm still exploring my options as of right now, I'm leaning toward web development.  But who knows, anything can change!

What did you end up doing last summer?
I had a great opportunity to work with Industrial Business Machines (IBM) with another Brother, Jonathan Lin. I learned what life was like as a typical Quality Assurance Software Engineer: automating test cases, finding defects, and enhancing the testing framework.  It was definitely a solid first step in the right direction for my future in software engineering

What is a long term goal that you hope to eventually accomplish one day?
I hope to leave a legacy not only in Alpha Kappa Psi but also here at Cal Poly. I want to make an annual event that highlights a cause bigger than ourselves but still achievable if we all work together. We have an amazing group of people around us and I want to see what would happen if we, as a community, come together to make something happen.

How has AKPsi shaped your career?
Alpha Kappa Psi provided an outlet for me to express myself and my aspirations for the future. I'm surrounded with like-minded individuals who genuinely want what is best for you and would do anything to get you there. From professionalism to soft skills, I can say with great confidence that I would not be where I am today without everyone in this fraternity.

What is your favorite memory of AKPsi?
There are so many memories to choose from, but my favorite would probably be playing intramural basketball in Spring 2014.  I think it was the first time the fraternity played an intramural anything in a while, and I love basketball.  Admittedly, we only played in Division III but we had so much fun duking it out with other groups while playing as a team.

I can never forget the last minute lay-up I dished out to Lexus (Alpha Eta) after receiving a clutch across-the-court pass from Jon Lin (Alpha Theta) to seal our first game win.   Epic.
