Accountant Trainee with California Department of Social Services
Pledge Class: Alpha Tau
Graduation: June 2020
How has Alpha Kappa Psi impacted your college experience?
I became more invested in being a better student. I was a lot more willing to go to the library and study because I had people I could sit with, and also knew more people in my business classes that I could study with or work with for group projects. I also was more social, like I got to travel to different chapters for inter-chapter mixers or hung out with my fam to carve pumpkins.
What are you excited for after graduation?
I’m most excited to live a “normal” life after college. Long nights studying, eating instant ramen, and downing coffee or Red Bull isn’t my idea of fun. So I’m looking forward to exploring new opportunities and experiences as a “real” adult.
Any advice for current college students?
Current students should work hard and play hard. Future employers care about grades and relevant experience. Don’t watch hours of tv when you should be studying, apply to any internship, even if it’s not with the Big 4 or a fancy tech company. However, if your friends invite you on a hike and you know an assignment can hold off for a couple of hours, go outside and get some fresh air. You don’t want to reflect back on your college experience and realize your nose was in a textbook the entire time, and your fondest memories are in the library at 3 AM.
